CLIENT: IUCN

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a global authority on the state of the natural world. As the largest and most diverse environmental network, the Union is dedicated to advancing sustainable development and create a just world that values and conserves nature.

Ahead of the organization’s keynote World Conservation Congress in Marseille, IUCN commissioned a video to highlight the programme’s core theme of “Restoring Ocean Health”. As an organization rooted in science and long form evidence based reports, we workshopped with IUCN to distill their message into a clear package.

The final script and visuals needed to illustrate an ocean in decay without being alarmist and feature IUCN’s commitment goals towards a more sustainable ocean.

With a tight turnaround and globally distributed client team, we nixed the traditional on-premises talking head video documentary for a remote creative visuals execution. Using a split screen technique to create visual interest and a deep dive into multiple content libraries allowed us to craft a cinema style video that avoids the stereotypical conventions of stock imagery. Enlisting one of the leading voices in the ocean conservation space for a remote voice over session helped too! The final product was highly regarded by the IUCN team and made multiple appearances throughout their in-person conference and on digital channels during the duration of the congress.
